JEN BUICK ‘Vast Blue Mountains’ - dec 23

Born in the countryside on the outskirts of Manchester UK, Jen attended Stockport College to study Surface pattern design where she developed her first love for art as the course focused heavily on still life drawing and painting along with the technical aspects of repeating patterns to make wallpapers, tiles and fabric. Now living in the Blue Mountains, having done many art courses since, Jen works in both oils and acrylic, utilising acrylic to capture energy and vitality in her painting.

Says Jen of her work:

Says Jen of her work: "My style is loose and impressionist. I try to use an economy of mark marking. I try not to fiddle. I love the brush marks and imperfections that add texture and interest. Nature. The light, atmosphere, energy and vitality. I love being in nature, the air, the space, the beauty. I feel so lucky to live surrounded by the UNESCO world heritage Blue Mountains. The Blue, green and honey rocks. So wild, so windy, so energizing. I notice the differences in temperature and how this effects everything such as colours and textures, changing second by second. I spend many hours out along The Narrowneck, both walking, riding my bike and sitting painting”.
